ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (NABL) Certification for Plastic & Resins

Plastic & Resins
Plastic is something that everyone is familiar with. It is one of the most abundant synthetic materials that can be found on this planet. Due to its cost efficiency and usability, it is now used in almost everything. When it comes to choose an alternative, plastic is everyone’s first choice.
The reason behind its cost efficiency is that it is highly economical to manufacture and also it is very energy efficient as compared to other options. The plastics offer similar strength as its alternatives but with a very lighter weight. Only two pounds of plastics can be sued to deliver 10 gallons of the liquid as opposed to three pounds of aluminium, eight pounds of steel, and more than 40 pound of glass. Plastics have mainly seven different types of resins that are mainly used in industries for different purposes.

High Density Polyethylene-HDPE
HDPE is mainly used for making packaging materials, carry bags, bottles and containers. Due to its chemical resistance and high strength it can be used for storage of many different household products.

Low Density Polyethylene-LDPE
LDPE is comparatively more flexible and offers more strength as compared to HDPE hence is used for making flexible films and packaging materials where the heat sealing is important aspect. LDPE is also used in wires and cable applications and also used for manufacturing flexible bottles and lids.

Polyethylene Terephthalate-PET
PET is clear and transparent and si good for blocking moisture hence it is mainly used for manufacturing of different types of beverage packaging bottles and some of the injection moulding applications. One best thing about PET is that its recycled resin can be used for spinning fibres that can be used for manufacturing textiles and carpet yarns.

Polypropylene-PP
This resin of plastic is known for its strength, and high melting point. This resin is mainly used for making containers for hot-fill liquids. It is also used in manufacturing automotive parts as well.

Polystyrene
Polystyrene can found in rigid or foamed state. It is mainly used for making protective packaging for brittle and fragile products. It is also used for making disposable glasses, bottles and plates. When combined with rubber, it gives High Impact Polystyrene or HIPS which is a very good protective material for products.

Polyvinyl Chloride PVC
PVC has very stable physical properties and has a very good chemical resistance. It has a very high heat resistance as compared to other plastic resins hence it is used for making flexible materials such as pipes, cables etc.

As the plastic and plastic resins have such extensive usage, it is essential for the manufacturers to ensure that the products they offer in the market are of best quality and pose no hazards to the users. The products need to be tested for their proper chemical structure and physical properties.
The products must be tested in an efficient lab environment. This lab must be efficient enough to perform the test correctly. If the lab has ISO 17025:2017 certification from NABL then it can assured that the test results obtained from the lab are accurate and can be trusted which further helps the manufacturers in ensuring best quality to the customers.
